best superhero movies imdb, 10 Superhero Movies Of All Time, greatest superhero movies of all time, hollywood best superhero movie list

Everyone watches superhero movies these days. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is bigger than ever and only seems to get bigger with each passing year and feature release with the DC Universe slowly catching up as well. With so many people interested in superhero movies currently, it can be quite hard to find the ones that are actually worth watching considering the vast amount of superhero movies that have been made over the years. If you’re a superhero movie buff but don’t know which movie to start with, well we’ve got you covered. Here is the list of the 10 best superhero movies:

10. Unbreakable (2001):

Directed by M.Night Shyamalan, Unbreakable is a more realistic approach to the idea of superheroes and superpowers. There’s not much we can say without spoiling the important twist in the end, but we will say that build-up is incredible and will keep you on the edge of your seats. There isn’t too much action or cool CGI effects, but the dialogue is decent enough to keep you interested in the story. If you’re looking for more after watching this movie, check out Split (2016) and Glass (2019) which were also directed by M.Night Shyamalan. These movies are widely regarded as the spiritual successors to                                                        Unbreakable.

9. Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014):

There is a good chance you’ve already watched this movie, but it doesn’t hurt to watch it again. The first time we watched it we were just shocked at the fact that the fat guy from Parks & Recreation is now a full-on superhero with ripped abs. But putting that aside, the movie is absolutely fantastic and can really be summed up to “Avengers, but in space.” The villain is sort of lacking, but the main characters will hopefully keep you entertained enough to not notice it. We should also mention that the soundtrack for this movie is absolutely fantastic.

8. The Crow (1994)

The Crow was Brandon Lee’s only feature film before he was accidentally shot on the set of this movie. If you didn’t know, Brandon Lee is the son of Bruce Lee. But regardless of this tragedy, director Alex Proyas and his crew managed to wrap up the film in not only a respectable but in a fantastic fashion as well. The Crow features influences from biblical topics and references which can usually make a film quite lame and cliché, but it works in this movie. We highly recommend this one if you’re someone who is looking for something different from the regular Marvel formula.

7. Captain America: Civil War (2016):

Well, this one is a no-brainer but if we’re talking about the 10 best superhero movies, this is definitely one of those movies that needs representation. Though it was supposedly released as part of the Captain America franchise, this is an Avengers movie, plain and simple. If we’re realistically speaking, this movie should honestly be called “Avengers 2.5: Tony and Cap have a relationship dispute.” But despite my jokes, this is a great film too. The ending is satisfying enough and the story resolves itself well in the second half. The idea for the villain in this movie is quite interesting too as he is no one special with any particular powers; just a very smart and cunning individual. Definitely one of the best in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6. Avengers: Infinity War (2018):

We may anger a few people by only putting this movie at number 6, but there are just so many great superhero movies out there. It just shows how far the quality of superhero movies have risen over the past decade. Infinity War is essentially about Thanos and his quest for the infinity stones and of course, about the avengers quest in stopping him. This movie ends with a cliff hanger which makes it all the more exciting to watch the next part. But if you haven’t watched this one yet, I strongly urge that you watch it. And moreover, try to watch it before May as that’s when Avengers: Endgame releases and you definitely want to be all caught up with the Avengers before you watch that.

5.  Wonder Woman (2017):

Oh how the mighty have fallen. At one point DC superhero movies were the most hyped with films like The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. But the launch of their own DC extended universe to try and compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been very fruitful with most films being rated average at best. However, when Wonder Woman was released in 2017, people finally started to believe that maybe DC and Warner Bros. do know what they’re doing. Then they released Justice League…

But regardless, this movie is a fantastic retelling of the origin of the Wonder Woman character and features all the hallmarks of a great movie. The feminist tones present in this movie are also very well done and do not take anything away from the actual story of the movie. A huge recommend from our side.

4. Spider-man: Into The Spiderverse (2018):

Who would’ve thought the best Spider-Man movie we’d get would be an animated movie. The Spiderverse is an incredibly well-done story about high-schooler Miles Morales as he takes up the responsibility of Spider-Man and through his adventures, ends up meeting different versions of himself from parallel universes. The animation is great, the story is great, the voice acting is great and even the music is great. If you’re someone that isn’t into animated films, we still recommend you give it a shot. Trust us, it’ll be worth it.

3. Black Panther (2018):

2018 was a fantastic year for Superhero movies. When we asked our staff about their favourite superhero movies, many of them picked Black Panther for the number 1 spot but in our opinion, two other movies slightly edge it out which we’ll get to in a minute. Speaking about Black Panther, the movie corrects several issues that were pointed out in past Marvel movies. The biggest issue for most fans was the lack of a good villain character in Marvel movies as most of them were generally forgettable or very unintimidating in many cases. Black Panther introduced Killmonger, who’s possibly the scariest villain we’ve had in a Marvel movie up to date. Beyond this, the cinematography in this movie is absolutely incredible and though the story does sort of boil down to your regular superhero origin story, it does not take away from the overall experience of the movie. A must-see for all superhero fans.

2. The Dark Knight (2008):

We’re certain that many of you reading would’ve assumed that we would put this movie at number 1. And we definitely thought that this would be our number 1 pick too but as great as The Dark Knight is, much of it is carried by Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker. We always found Christian Bale as an alright Batman but certainly not the best. However, with all of this being said, The Dark Knight is definitely one of those movies that you should watch even if you don’t like superhero movies. Everything about this movie is crafted to perfection as is the case with most Christopher Nolan films. If you haven’t watched it yet, check this movie out as soon as you can. You will not regret it.

Before we mention our number 1 pick, we’d love to list our Honourable Mentions as well:

Iron-Man (2006): The start of the MCU. And turns out, its a pretty great film too.

Chronicle (2012):A much more realistic look at superheroes and superpowers.

The Avengers (2012): Though Iron-man was responsible for being the start of the MCU, The Avengers movie is what made the MCU as big as it is today.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012): We could only mention one film from The Dark Knight Trilogy sadly, but this one is definitely a worthy successor to The Dark Knight.

Deadpool (2012): Just because Deadpool is awesome.

And now for our number 1 pick,

1. Logan (2017)

We cannot tell you how hard it was to decide between this film and The Dark Knight for our number 1 spot. But Logan does surpass The Dark Knight in one important way; everyone’s performance in this film is incredible. From Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of a dying Wolverine to Patrick Stuarts portrayal of an old professor Xavier, there’s no one in this film that doesn’t give it their 100%. It’s kind of crazy to imagine that the best x-men movie and ultimately the best superhero movie was an instalment in a spin-off franchise. The gritty nature of this movie may be a little difficult to swallow for some people, but we can promise that everything in this movie is necessary and worth it. Watch this one if you never really liked the x-men franchise or wolverine in general; this movie will definitely change your mind on it.

We would like to conclude by saying that this is purely our own opinion and every individual’s tastes will differ in some way or another. But we do hope that you enjoyed this article. Have a great day everyone!
